Truth-Telling Dialogue

Pair work – Exercise in Truth-Telling / 10 minutes

Speaker: Talk for 1-2 minutes about anything, something that is meaningful.
Listener: Listen first 1-2 minutes without any reaction, acknowledgement.
Then continue for 4 minutes with reflections in between.

Questions to hold while or after this dialogue practice

As a speaker: How do you know a person is listening?
As a listener: Am I really receiving 100%? Where is my attention?
If I’ve gone somewhere else with my attention, bring it back: „Go back.“

Harvesting

Sharing your experience in the plenum: What was it like as a speaker, as a listener?

Input: Content and Meaning

A helpful distinction is between CONTENT and MEANING
The key is the ENERGY in MEANING: „to get heard AND understood“

What is MEANING? „My uncle is in the hospital.“ Often we get stuck at the level of CONTENT.
True Dialogue can be experienced as FLOW OF MEANING.
From me to you … from you to me…

Throughout a workshop we can try to to practice MEANING EXCHANGE.
