Helping-Fixing vs. Serving

When faced with any kind of challenge, we can take two different perspectives on them.

We can look at the world with a view, that it needs fixing and people, that they need help. In this view the world is fundamentally wrong, broken, deficient.

In another approach to challenges in life, we can see the world as beautiful with its shortcomings and people as beautiful, with their handicaps and simply see an opportunity to serve. We can accept or decline this offer to contribute to other or to the world. We do it from a place of willingness and care, or we do not do it.

A more elaborate view on this important key distinction is offered here.
